The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Piranhas offer training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Piranhas to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

TRAINING GROUPS

Intro to Swim Team  is an introductory group for younger swimmers who are transitioning into competitive swimming directly from swim lesson background with zero competitive experience. This group practices twice a week for 1 hour and works on the basic fundamentals of swimming in a fun and interactive environment. Intro to Swim Team members competition in meets is completely optional and only will begin when the coach, parent, and swimmer are comfortable competing.

Equipment: Bathing Suit, goggles, and water bottle

Mini-Piranhas are an introductory group for younger swimmers who are transitioning into competitive swimming. This group practices three times a week for 1 hour and works on the basic technical aspects of swimming all four strokes in a fun and engaging atmosphere. Mini-Piranhas will compete at local meets only when the coach, parent, and swimmer are comfortable competing.

Equipment: Bathing Suit, goggles, and water bottle

Age Group I is designed for swimmers ages 6-9 and practice 1 - 1 1/2 hours at a time up to four times a week. The focus is placed on proper technique and building good practice habits while learning the vital characteristics of competitive swimming. Swimmers will be expected to compete at local meets.

Equipment: Bathing Suit, goggles, and water bottle


Age Group II is designed for swimmers ages 8-12 and practice 1 1/2 hours up to four/five times a week. Stroke development is a continued focus while a natural transition to more endurance training takes place. Swimmers will be expected to compete at local meets

Equipment: Bathing Suit, goggles, fins, and water bottle

Age Group Travel Team is for 12 and unders and will be selected by the coaching staff based on qualifying times and practice requirements laid out at the beginning of each season.  These swimmers will be from multiple different groups and practice together on Saturday Mornings and be required to attend additional travel meets out of district.   
 

Junior I Group is for swimmers ages 11-14 and practice 2-3 hours up to six times a week. This group is for more advanced swimmers who have proficient stroke technique, a solid work ethic, and higher level of commitment. Swimmers will be expected to practice a minimum of 15 practices per month and are expected to compete at local meets and possibly qualifiers to regional meets as well. Goal setting and attaining high levels of competition are strongly encouraged at this level.

Junior II Group is for swimmers ages 12 and over and practice 2-3 hours up to six times a week.  This group continues to focus on stroke development with an increase in endurance training with the focus on necessary training preparation for and during their high school years.

High School Group is designed for swimmers ages 14 and over and practice 2-3 hours up to six times a week plus additional dry-land training. A minimum of 15 practices per month is expected and swimmers will compete at local meets as well as additional meets based upon qualifying times.

Senior Boys and Senior Girls Group is designed for swimmers ages 13 and over and practice 2-3 hours up to six times a week plus additional dry-land training. A minimum of 18 practices per month are required and swimmers will compete at local meets as well as additional meets based upon qualifying times.

We also offer an Alumni Group for all College Aged swimmers who wish to train with the Piranhas during their breaks (Spring, Summer, Thankgsiving, etc.)
